Questions

1. Has anyone been to the Fresh Market on Henderson Rd.? That is right down the street from my new house, and I was wondering if it was any good.

2. Can someone give me some good tips for Farmers Market-ing this summer? i have never been before, and could use some advice! I am so excited to go, too!

Thanks in advance! =)

Jule -

I work over by Fresh Market, but have never been in. I usually hit Mark's next door.

Both the North Market and Worthington have great farmer's markets. The Clintonville market is ok...it may just be that I get there late because I hit the Worthington market first.

The Fresh Market is much tinier than it looks from the outside - very fresh produce, I tend to go there mainly for their bakery, prepared foods and sandwiches, and strawberries in the summer ($7.99 for a huge flat of beautiful strawberries, sometimes even cheaper than that. Go once to see if you like it, but there's much better selection and similar prices at Whole Foods.

As for the farmer's markets - the three I usually frequent are the North Market, Clintonville, and Worthington. The North Market is my standby, not too much walking on my aching joints and good selection. Worthington is the biggest, but can get super crowded and is hard to find parking if you don't get there early. But they have all of the meat, poultry, and cheese, where the others don't have as big a selection. Clintonville has a similar selection to the North Market, parking is not to tough to find if you know where to look.

Clintonville and Worthington won't open for a while, but there's a few brave souls at the North Market already on Saturday mornings. :)

Hope this helps!

I go to the Worthington farmer's market. There is always parking available at the church about a block from one end of the market, even if the parking in the immediate vicinity is full. I've found that if you get there right around 9, it isn't too crowded, but by 10 it is.

I think it doesn't open til sometime in May, though.
